Dancing with Amar Gamal

I'm finally landing from my weekend workshop with Amar Gamal in Saint John last weekend. She was a fabulous instructor, generous in spirit, and I really appreciated being there learning from her over the course of the weekend. I also had the opportunity to meet up with old friends, make new ones, shop and perform. All in all, a very fun excursion.

A number of students made it to Saint John for the show and I have heard lot's of comments from them stating their pleasure in attending. The show features a wide variety of styles with dancers from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Main and Alberta. Amar Gamal performed an oriental piece as well as a cane dance and the fusion choreography she had taught us that day.

I bought a book titled "Bellydancing for Fitness; The Sexy Art that Tones your Abs, Butt and Thighs". I look forward to reading it. I also found out about 2 upcoming workshop. One with Sadie in Saint John NB in May and another with Elizabeth Strong in Bridgetown NS in July. I hope to make it to both but if I can only go to one, I am leaning towards the last one since she will be teaching Turkish Rom, Folkloric & Floorwork. I do not yet know what Sadie will be teaching.

Other than that, things are going well at the Studio. The Rectangular Veil Intensives are coming along nicely and I am looking forward to the Christmas Choreography & Hip Shimmy Intensives scheduled to start soon. The vendor from Montreal visited the classes this past week and left some goodies for sale with me. Work on the DVD featuring the show last June is just about complete and the next phase of work for this website is also planned out and ready to go. Busy, busy, busy bee.
